As a Senior Data Infrastructure Engineer, you will be a skilled Practitioner and a role model in Infrastructure solutions. Responsible for ensuring best practices are adhered to across the department and guiding teams on how to deliver quality Infrastructure products.

You will assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles. With a focus on operational stability, robustness, resilience, availability and quality you will be accountable for infrastructure solutions.

Day to day you will:

Design and implement infrastructure services/solutions to meet strategic plans and roadmaps

Be responsible for operational management of services/solutions, ensuring performance and delivery to staff

Provide specialist technical support and assistance to projects ensuring definition and delivery of requisite non-functional requirements to architectural and roadmap developments

Provide operational management and monitoring of suppliers performance and escalation as required

Develop and implement service improvement plans to address identified issues

What Tech Stack, knowledge and experience will you need?

Experience in leading teams, setting direction and building capability

The ability to drive continuous improvement in processes and standards across teams and the wider DWP engineering community

Experience of big data platforms – EMR, Hadoop are preferred but not essential

Experience of one or more Programming Languages – eg Python

Experience of distributed version control tools, and awareness of modern code deployment methods (CI/CD) (Jenkins or Concourse)

Experience of Terraform and AWS services
