The Data Security Team is an embedded security enabling function to support Data & Analytics (D&A). The team controls access to data and secures data flows, whilst providing security assurance around the handling of bulk personal data to ensure that DWP meets its obligations under social security legislation and data protection law.

Job description

Leading a team of Data Security Managers, you will be responsible for coaching and developing data managers, and ensure compliance with all governance and assurance policies, processes and protocols.

As a Senior Data Security Manager, you will be responsible for leading, managing, and delivering all aspects of data security, assurance and governance of products and services derived from DWP and cross-government data assets.

You will:

• Lead and manage a team of data managers (security) to develop their skills, knowledge and capabilities.

• Provide specialist advice to include best practice recommendations on data security to include controls to mitigate else address risks and vulnerabilities.

• Build and maintain strong relationships with service areas as well as security expert domains to foster collaboration and an inclusive approach to data security.

• Own, consult, develop and enhance the data system security policies and processes in relation to data access.

• Communicate with all levels of staff including senior staff in the organisation in relation to information security and data protection legislation, policies and standards.

This job role may be suitable for hybrid working, which is where an employee works part of the week in their DWP office and part of the week from home. This is a voluntary, non-contractual arrangement and your office will be your contractual place of work. The number of days that anyone will be able to work at home will be determined primarily by business need, but personal circumstances and other relevant circumstances will also be taken into account. If you are successful, any opportunities for hybrid working, including whether a hybrid working arrangement is suitable for you, will be discussed with you prior to you taking up your post. 

Salary Information

Salary for this role is from £50, (Band min) to £60, (Band max).

Our offer to successful candidates will be based on an assessment of your skills and experience as demonstrated at interview.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.

Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
