Volunteer Coordinator – Age UK Group – Blackpool

Age UK Group

The Silver Connects Service offers older people a helping hand to navigate difficult situations and to connect with organisations and services in their local area. We support people requiring a wide range of help, including accessing health and social care, housing and benefits services, and finding social clubs and events.

To support the growing demand of this vital service, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Silver Connects team as a Volunteer Coordinator.

The successful applicant of this multi-faceted role will recruit, train and support our committed team of volunteers. Volunteers assist older people by telephone, connecting them with local and national services that can offer relevant support. Volunteers may also carry out light-touch advocacy work, such as making a call on an older person's behalf to the local council, a landlord, or a utility company.

As Volunteer Coordinator, you will utilise your strong organisational and interpersonal skills to support a team of up to 20 volunteers, and in some more challenging cases, may provide direct support by telephone.

If you have experience working with volunteers and a passion for helping others, then this may be the role for you!

This fantastic opportunity offers hybrid working between home and our Blackpool office. Applicants must therefore live within a reasonable commuting distance.

Please note that the successful applicant will be subject to a full DBS check.

You will have:

Demonstrable experience of managing, training and supporting a team of volunteers to deliver services

Experience of, and be passionate about, providing advocacy and support to vulnerable people, ideally older people, to make a difference in their lives

A knowledge of how to meet the challenges of delivering a service that is high quality, keeps people safe, and keeps their data secure

Excellent communication skills

Proficiency in MS Office applications including Excel, Word and PowerPoint

What we offer in return

In return we can offer a salary of £20,519.36 per annum and great benefits including 26 days annual leave + bank holidays, excellent pension, life assurance, healthcare cashback plan, season ticket loan, cycle to work scheme, flexible working and much more.
